Africa agri-science origination desk
Johannesburg gains four analysts who originate agri-science and animal-health positions in southern and eastern Africa. The desk writes in rand and in dollars, takes positions of US$4 million to US$18 million, and holds them through the Port Louis platform rather than on a local balance sheet.

The region has supplied deal flow to Brisbane and Palm Beach since 2024 without an origination bench of its own. Work sourced at a distance is slow to diligence and easy to misprice. Four analysts on the ground bring the first look on an opportunity down from about six weeks to ten business days.
The desk costs US$5 million of the US$24 million allocated to 2030. Every position it originates is audited against the welfare standards before completion, including at the contract growing and processing sites the target company uses but does not own. A position that fails that audit is not underwritten.
