Lakeshore Derivatives Exchange
Lakeshore Derivatives Exchange lists the agricultural, livestock and dairy futures contracts that the Quantitative Strategies division uses to hedge origination positions. IGUAKO became a direct trading participant in 2022. The venue's grain and protein contracts map closely to the exposures the firm carries through its agri-science and animal-health portfolio companies.
The relationship
Direct venue access matters because the hedges are large relative to the underlying positions and must be placed quickly. Trading as a participant rather than through an intermediary reduces the cost of each contract and gives the desk sight of the order book. Lakeshore also supplies the settlement prices used in the Risk & Valuation Committee's monthly marks.
