Sumida Information Systems
Sumida Information Systems licenses Japanese pharmaceutical, specialty-chemical and materials data to the Information & Data division. The relationship began in 2024 when the Tokyo office opened. Sumida provides regulatory approval records, patent expiry schedules and manufacturing capacity data for around 2,600 Japanese companies, most of which are not covered by any English-language provider.
The relationship
Japanese pharmaceutical and specialty-materials relationships are a stated purpose of the group's presence in Japan, and the underwriting depends on data that is only published locally. Sumida feeds are translated, checked for provenance, and loaded into the research platform under the Information Governance Committee's licence review. Analysts in Tokyo, Singapore and Toronto use the same dataset.
