Presence
Office at Rivonia Chambers, Johannesburg, opened in 2024. Four people work there under Thabo Mokoena-Faulkner, Head of Office, Johannesburg, reporting to Port Louis.
Why this domicile
- Southern Africa has a large livestock and crop economy served by veterinary biologics and feed manufacturers whose markets are difficult to enter, which is the origination profile the group looks for.
- Johannesburg is the commercial centre of the region, with the founders, auditors and veterinary practitioners a due diligence team needs within one city.
- A common-law commercial system with English-language courts and a deep professional market supports transaction execution.
- Exchange control makes proceeds slower to move than elsewhere, and the group structures every position so that the exit route is approved before capital enters.
All three of the region's portfolio positions are South African businesses, each held through the Port Louis platform and each carrying the welfare conditions of the Animal and Biological Welfare in Investment policy. Welfare audits are commissioned from independent veterinary practitioners during due diligence, and no position is approved until the audit is complete. Brisbane's sector specialists sit on every investment case from Johannesburg. The Nairobi desk introduces East African aquaculture and crop-input opportunities, and Johannesburg underwrites them.
Two of the 61 family relationships are covered from Johannesburg, both families whose wealth was built in the animal-health businesses the group has financed, and both hold their structures on the Port Louis platform. Rand-denominated commercial finance for exporters is written through IGUAKO Agri-Science Finance (Pty) Ltd, with credit exposure booked through Port Louis and investor reporting prepared in St Peter Port. Custody of South African securities and share certificates is with Karoo Custodial Services. Programme Latitude assigns 2030 to the region, when Johannesburg grows its origination team.

Regulatory approach
IGUAKO Capital South Africa (Pty) Ltd is authorised by the national market conduct regulator for financial services as a financial services provider for advisory and intermediary services in respect of securities and participatory interests, for professional clients only. It does not manage discretionary portfolios, hold client assets or accept deposits. The entity appoints key individuals and representatives approved by the regulator, maintains professional indemnity cover and the liquidity the regulator requires, files an annual compliance report signed by an approved compliance officer, and submits audited financial statements. IGUAKO Agri-Science Finance (Pty) Ltd is registered as a credit provider for business credit and falls outside the consumer credit regime because it lends only to juristic persons above the statutory threshold. Compliance reports to Port Louis and to the Group Head of Compliance.
