Port Louis
Port Louis is a platform rather than a market. Nine people at Caudan Chambers administer eight holding companies, through which the four African portfolio positions and the Indian pharmaceutical and animal-health exposures are held. US$21 million of the client portfolio is attributed to Mauritius, the smallest regional figure in the network and a fair measure of a hub that holds rather than sells.
A second holding company carries the Indian exposures, covered jointly with Singapore, and a finance company writes facilities along the Indian Ocean corridor for the Commercial Finance division. Anse Courtois Bank has been the correspondent since 2023. Proceeds realised in South Africa or East Africa pass through the platform to George Town, and capital returns only for positions that pass the four underwriting tests again.
Welfare in biological capital, the fifth principle of the Ethical Technology Charter, is applied here at the point a position is admitted to the platform rather than at the point it is sold. The 2030 phase of Programme Latitude takes the number of administered vehicles to fifteen and adds the administration capacity that the Kigali and Cape Town desks will need.
